Department of Computer Science and Engineering runs under the School of Engineering of Kathmandu University. The Department offers bachelors and masters degree programs in Computer Science and Engineering fields.

Computer Engineering Students study the design of digital hardware systems, including computers, communication systems and devices that contain Computers. They also study software development with a focus on the softwares used within and between digital devices. The curriculum focuses on the theories, principles and practices of relevant areas of traditional electrical engineering and mathematics, and applies them to the problem of designing computers and the many kind of computer-based devices.

The complete course in taught in English.

Candidate should have passed ISC (or 10+2 or equivalent) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in PCM.

The eligibility for admission to various programs of the university is guided by the scores achieved by the applicant in I. Sc., 10+2, or equivalent examination system.

 

  • For Bachelor of Engineering in Computer, Electrical & Electronics, and Mechanical, and Bachelor of Computer Science- a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and minimum of 50% PCM* score.
  • For Bachelor of Environmental Engineeringe- a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% PCM* or Diploma in Engineering/Architecture.
  • For Bachelor of Pharmacy and Biotechnology- a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and minimum of 50% PCM* or PCB**.
  • For Bachelor of Environmental Science- a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and minimum of 45% PCM* or PCB**.

 

(*PCM = Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics)
(**PCB = Physics, Chemistry & Biology)

 

Admission Procedure

1. Application Form:

The application form can be collected from the Central Office, Dhulikhel by paying Rs. 300.00 (non refundable).

 

All applicants should submit the application form with a non-refundable payment of Rs. 400.00 to Kathmandu University.

 

In case of applicants who have downloaded form from the web,a non-refundable payment of Rs 700.00 will have to be made with submission of application.

2. Admission Test:

An admission test of two hours duration will be held to examine the candidates' proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at the I.Sc. level.

 

3. Interview:

Short listed candidates will be interviewed by the concerned department to assess their aptitude.
